Promote Ethical Research - The ABTC

Research provides the opportunity to enhance and develop knowledge and provides evidence to counter the efficacy of methods based on little more than tradition and hearsay. Historically animal welfare has not necessarily featured as a high priority in research however in more recent times safeguards have been put in place to protect animals in the form of legislation (Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986) and Guidelines (July 2004) for Ethical Approval in Psychological Research Minimum Standards as published by the British Psychological Society: Click here for file (Opens in a new window)

The Council will encourage and promote ethical research into any aspect of animal training, behaviour therapy and psychological welfare.
